Socializing on the Patio Before Dinner

What? Crystals in California?

Dan Schwartz’s wife had a hard time believing that he needed to go to Lake Tahoe to study crystals. To prove it, he took a picture of us listening to his lecture. Alex Chernov and the better half of Jonah Erlebacher lead the chant.

Perhaps a more serene meditation can be found by enjoying the sunrise over Fallen Leaf Lake.

Hiking and Relaxing

Between the lectures and poster sessions there is plenty of time for more relaxed social activities. The area has incredible hiking for a range of effort levels from relaxing hikes to Lilly Lake and Susie Falls to vigorous (potentially snow filled adventures) by climbing to the top of one of the nearby peaks. 2010 has been a wet winter for California, so expect some snow on the ground if you hike up above treeline.
