We are cognizant that the current economic conditions will make travel challenging to many attendees. The ACCGE/OMVPE conferences have generally been chosen in resort locations rather than inner cities, which can be less expensive, but are much less desirable destinations. When we did our site search more than a year ago, the Grand Geneva stood out as being a beautiful location, big enough for our meetings and much less expensive than comparable properties we looked at. Still it is not cheap. We truly believe that you will be getting a vacation quality experience out of this meeting along with a top notch technical program. Based on our history, we committed at the beginning of 2008 to a reasonable sized room block and a very favorable attrition percentage. Things have obviously changed since then, but the contract remains in force and if we go below that attrition percentage, we pay the cost of any unused rooms. So if you stay someplace else to save $20 per night, the conference may be out $150 per night. That can bankrupt a meeting and the AACG fairly quickly. We really want to avoid any sort of registration surcharge based on location of accommodations. Therefore we strongly ask that you stay at the conference resort, which includes both the main lodge at Grand Geneva and Timber Ridge as described below. We think that your conference experience and interactions with other conferees will be strongly enhanced thereby. Thanks for your participation in making this a great meeting.  Conference Venue - Grand Geneva Resort & Spa The Grand Geneva Resort & Spa is an all-season, spa and sport resort in Lake Geneva, WI. The resort is nestled among 1,300 acres of rolling hills and beautiful Wisconsin countryside overlooking its own private lakes. First opened by Hugh Hefner as a Playboy Club in 1968, Grand Geneva Resort now reigns as Wisconsin’s largest conference resort. The buildings, inspired by the designs of Frank Lloyd Wright, showcase views of Grand Geneva’s golf courses spread over rolling hills. Grand Geneva Resort & Spa, in beautiful Lake Geneva, is home to 36 holes of championship golf on two courses, relaxing spa services, hiking, horseback riding, and more. Moose Mountain Falls is an on-site indoor/outdoor waterpark. Enjoy the horseback riding, indoor and outdoor tennis, indoor and outdoor swimming pools, motorized boats, hay rides and more. 
Deluxe Guest Rooms at the Grand Geneva include one king or two full sized beds with tripled Egyptian cotton sheets. An over-stuffed chair with ottoman, and wireless high-speed internet is also included. Baths feature marbletop vanities, make-up mirror, and bath amenities from WELL Spa. Rooms have a furnished private balcony or patio. Highlighting the room are stunning views of the resort's lake and golf courses or courtside views via outdoor patio or balcony. The family-friendly Timber Ridge Lodge & Waterpark is a separate lodge at the Grand Geneva resort. Its 225 well-appointed guest suites offer the conveniences of home and the luxuries of a posh resort. Spacious floorplans include kitchenettes with microwave oven, full-sized refrigerator, stove top burners, dishwasher and double sink as well as whirlpool baths, private bedrooms, a fireplace and covered balcony. After a day at the waterpark, you can watch a movie in your living room, play a board game or unwind in your large whirlpool bath. High Speed Internet access in your guest suite offers a fast and easy way to stay connected. Timber Ridge Lodge is easily accessible by a free trolley to the the main lodge at Grand Geneva. Timber 1 Bedroom accommodates up to four and provides guests with four waterpark admissions. Timber 1 Bedroom $150.00 per night. A resort service fee of $12.00 per room per day will apply. The resort service fee includes the following: trolley transportation on the Resort grounds on regularly scheduled routes and at scheduled times; access to the Spa & Sports Center including fitness facility, lockers, sauna, steam, lap pool and fitness classes; all local, credit card and toll-free telephone calls, wireless internet connection in guest room; two complimentary bottled waters per day; daily newspaper delivered to guest room, incoming facsimile messages; and in-room coffee.
